Cookie policy

Last updated 22 October 2026

This policy sets out what rheoshift.com stores on your device or reads back from it, what for, how long it lasts and how you can change it - by category, with the full table below.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a site asks your browser to keep and can read back on later visits. Each one has a name, a value and an expiry date: it can last for a single session or for months, and it can hold anything from a language code to a random number that recognizes your browser.

A cookie stored on the domain of the site you are reading - rheoshift.com - is first-party, even when the tool that sets it belongs to another company. A cookie stored on that company's own domain is third-party. The table below says, for each entry, who sets it and which of the two it is.

Browsers also keep small amounts of data outside cookies, in localStorage. Unlike a cookie, what is kept there stays in your browser and is never sent to a server; we use it to remember the light or dark theme you choose. sessionStorage works the same way except that it is emptied when you close the tab; we keep one entry there: a note that the welcome logo animation has already played in this tab. The law covers anything stored on or read from your device, not only cookies, so all three are described here.

What the law requires

Storing something on your device, or reading it back, is governed by Art. 399 of the Polish Electronic Communications Law (ustawa z dnia 12 lipca 2024 r. - Prawo komunikacji elektronicznej, PKE): we must tell you what we store and why, and ask first - unless what we store is necessary to deliver something you asked for (Art. 399(3) PKE). Where the data is also personal data, the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, in Polish RODO) applies to it.

The Necessary category below falls under that exemption, so those items are stored without asking. They do what you asked the site to do, and nothing else.

Visit statistics are a separate case. We count them with our own tool, Plausible, which stores nothing on your device. The one thing it reads is a “plausible_ignore” entry in local storage - stored only when you switch counting off yourself, with the “Don’t count my visits” button at the top of this page (Art. 399(3) PKE). It has its own row in the table below, like everything stored on your device. So there is nothing here that would need consent. What is counted, and on what basis, is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Everything else needs your consent: without it we store nothing more on your device and read nothing back. That consent has to meet the GDPR standard - a freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous act (Art. 400 PKE, Art. 4(11) GDPR) - and you can take it back at any time, as easily as you gave it (Art. 7(3) GDPR).

Every category the site uses is described on this page. If a category does not appear below, the site does not use it.

Categories

Necessary - without these the site cannot do what you ask of it, so they need no consent (Art. 399(3) PKE). rs_locale holds the language you are reading in: it is written only when you use the EN/PL switch, it holds one of two values (en or pl), it carries no identifier, and it lasts 12 months. Without it, every visit would start in whichever language your browser asks for.

theme - light or dark - belongs to the same category. It is not a cookie: it lives in your browser's localStorage, it is written only when you use the theme switch, it is never sent to our server or to anyone else, and it stays until you clear it. rs-curtain belongs here too: a sessionStorage entry that remembers the welcome logo animation has already played in this tab, never sent anywhere, gone when you close the tab. __cf_bm is necessary too. Cloudflare, the service every request to the site passes through, sets it; it lasts 30 minutes, tells browsers from bots, and carries no identifier of you.

The full list

Everything this site stores on your device - including what it stores only at your request - and reads back from it: what it is called, who sets it, whether it is first-party or third-party, what for, how long it lasts and which category it belongs to. The table is generated from the site's own cookie inventory, so it changes when the site does: a tool that is not listed is a tool we do not use.

Your browser

Whatever this page describes, your browser decides what it accepts. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and Opera all let you block cookies, block third-party cookies only, delete what is already stored, or clear everything when you close the window. Look under Privacy or Site settings, or search the browser's own help for cookies.

The site works without cookies. The pages read exactly the same; what you lose is the remembered settings - the language you chose and, if you clear your browser's storage, the light or dark theme. Every visit then starts in the language your browser asks for.

Links lead away from our site, and this policy covers our domain only. Our LinkedIn page is LinkedIn's: once you open it you are on LinkedIn, where LinkedIn sets its own cookies and LinkedIn's rules apply.

Booking a call happens here, on rheoshift.com: the calendar is part of this site and sets no cookies. The meeting in Microsoft 365 is created by our server, so nothing from Microsoft appears in your browser.

Changes

We update this page whenever the site changes - a new tool, a new cookie, a different lifetime. The date at the top is the version you are reading.
